Harriet Tubman, also known as 'Moses', was a former slave who in 1849, ran away from the plantation she worked in. She returned back to other plantations to help other slaves escape. Tubman used the underground railroad to help slaves escape from their plantations. She had never lost anyone in any of her journeys.
Harriett then went on to command an armed military raid freeing over 700 slaves, making her the first woman in american history to lead slaves into battle.
